Chiropractic Green Grass

Theodore Roosevelt said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.”

When you think about it, those are very true words. Here’s a great example of how comparison thinking can be detrimental.

We’ve all gone to a continuing education program and during the breaks, you overhear doctors talking about their practices.  You’ll hear things like, “I see 100 patient visits per day,” or  “ I see 75 new patients per month.”

Upon hearing those stats, we often want to compare our own numbers with them, but in doing so we suffer by comparison.

When there’s no relativity to the comparison we are drawing, then we may be left feeling unhappy about our own practice.

There’s no relativity to knowing how many patients a clinic sees per day.  It’s just a number.  The relativity is in the profit margins.

Over the years, I’ve seen many clinics that saw big numbers, but there was very little profit.  In fact, sometimes there was no profit at all.

Real success is born out of the health of your bottom line.

So the next time we run into each other at a convention, let’s talk about the weather instead of the numbers because the grass isn’t always greener in someone else’s practice.
