Dr. Michael Perusich: Hi, everybody, Mike Perusich here with Kats Consultants. Today, I want to talk to you about what's holding you back. What's keeping you from real success? There are three critical factors that keep chiropractic entrepreneurs from achieving maximum success. What's holding you back?

The first critical factor could be burnout. The signs of burnout are when you lose your passion for your patients, for your business, or even for chiropractic, when you become irritable around the clinic, and at home, and when you're tired and just can't get that energy back.

How do you avoid burnout? The easiest way is to schedule a vacation every quarter. That's right, you should be taking one week off every quarter from your practice, so you can get that passion and energy back. You need to schedule it in advance so that it happens. Don't schedule your vacation around your patients, schedule your patients around your vacation.

What else could be holding you back? It could be that you just can't get out of your own head. What are the signs of that? You're constantly missing opportunities with patients, you're micromanaging staff, and you're just not fully connected and engaged with your patients. How do you solve this? Stop thinking and start doing. Listen empathetically to your patience. Be intentional about the opportunities to grow your practice that are right in front of you.

What else could be holding you back? The third critical factor is not managing your practice via your stats. That's right. Your statistics not only help you run your practice, but the only way to find true success is to really understand the black and white of your practice.

What are the signs of not managing by your stats? What are the signs of not really working those numbers? One of the biggest signs is that you think a high number of new patients is what's going to build your practice and lead you to success, but that's not the case. You need to understand not only your new patient numbers, but what's your retention. How many patients are you keeping on the back end? What are your profits per patient visit? How is your practice trending over time?

These are the critical factors that can hold you back from true success. Avoid burnout, stay out of your head, manage your practice with your stats, and don't hold yourself back from maximum success.
